Clowns Need Not Attend
The Friendswood Chamber of Commerce’s 17th Annual “Halloween in the Park” will be held this Sunday, October 23rd from 6pm to 8pm at Stevenson Park. Dozens of local businesses will be handing out candy to an estimated 3,000 children.
However, due to concerns from news reports across the country regarding clown incidents, the Chamber has asked that all attendees leave their clown costumes at home. This includes kids, adults, pets, etc. If they are wearing a clown costume, or have their face painted as a clown, they will be escorted out of the park.
What likely started as a practical joke inspired by the television series American Horror Story has quickly become an nationwide phenomenon fueled by social media and paranoia. Fortunately, it seems the pranksters are done “clowning around” and the worst of the 2016 Clown Scare is behind us. Or at least it will be as long as we can get through Halloween without incident.
